Google lauches Kormo app in India to help job seekers find entry level jobs

Google extended its Kormo Jobs app to India on Wednesday. Kormo Employment was first launched in 2018 in Bangladesh and then expanded in 2019 in Indonesia. The Kormo Jobs app lets people build their digital Curriculum Vitae ( CV). This app lists jobs. It comes as the newest Google effort, in competition with Microsoft's Linked In and indian job-search ports such as Naukri and Times Jobs, to connect lakhs of jobseekers with their potential employers.

Kormo Jobs helps you to find recommended jobs and apply for appropriate matches on the basis of your profile. It will also provide you with tools to upgrade your career and improve your profile. The app also provides an option to create a digital CV by submitting some information that can be shared or printed through the app.

Google introduced Kormo Jobs to the Indian market last year through Google Pay's Jobs Spot site. The company claims that employers such as Zomato and Dunzo will post more than twenty lakhs of checked jobs through Google Pay integration. However, there is no detail on how many people from these lists could receive a job.

Despite all these, Google is now rebranding the Jobs Spot on Google Pay to Kormo Jobs to provide users with a consistent experience. "We will continue to invest in it with additional features and jobs so its users can continue to benefit from their convenience," Bickey Russell, Regional Manager and Operations Lead, Kormo Jobs, Google, said in a blog post.

Jobs Spot on Google Pay was developed exclusively for entry-level positions. For Kormo Jobs, Google can compete with LinkedIn and other India's job portals like Naukri, Shine, and TimesJobs beyond entry-level positions. The launch of this Google app could also make the market tougher for Quickr and Olx classified advertisement sites which have dedicated job listings to cater for job seekers.

Google partnered with job portals like Aasaanjobs, Freshersworld, Headhonchos, IBM Talent Management Solutions, LinkedIn, Quezx and Shine in April 2018 to bring job listings to its India search engine. That model was inspired by the Google for Jobs feature that was launched in the United States back in 2017.
