Aarogya Setu app crosses over 15 crore registered users

Aarogya Setu crossed 15 Crore downloads, India's first Covid-19 contact-tracking application. More than 15 Crore users have downloaded the app since its launch on April 2nd, 2020, stated in a tweet by the app's twitter handle.

The Aarogya Setu app also features most installs, led by the Turkey Pandemic Tracking Project and the Germany Corona Alert App with 1.1 crore and 1.04 crore downloads, according to a survey by Sensor Tower.

Also on the list of top 5 most-installed Covid-19 tracking apps is Aarogya Setu, along with the Japanese COCOA app which offers about 55 lakh downloads and Indonesia PeduliLindungi about 46 lakh downloads.

The Indian Government has also been trying to speed up the adoption of the Aarogya Setu app, apart from aggressively promoting the app for contact tracing between government departments and other private companies. The Electronics and Information Ministry of India (MeitY) also created a different Jio phone edition to include a large number of users in its contact tracking programme.

Before the government of India agreed the Aarogya Setu software was open source, it was overwhelmed with reports on security and privacy. India was one of the first countries with a popular open-source contact tracing app.
